Some links from this site to gambling operators are affiliate links. If you open an account through one, we may be paid a commission. That commission does not affect our scores, our rankings or our criticism, because the rubric is applied and the score recorded before any commercial terms are discussed.

How we get paid #

We are paid by operators when a reader clicks through to them and opens an account. Depending on the arrangement that is either a one-off payment for a funded account, or a share of the operator’s net revenue from that account over time. We are not paid for clicks alone, and we are not paid by you.

Every outbound commercial link on this site is routed through a /go/ address, carries rel="sponsored nofollow", and is excluded from search indexing. That is deliberate: it makes the commercial links identifiable rather than disguised as ordinary editorial links.

What commission does not buy #

It does not buy a score, a ranking position, the removal of a criticism, or the removal of the “Where it falls short” section, which is mandatory on every review.

The order of operations matters here, so we will state it exactly. We verify the licence, read the terms, test support, score the six rubric components, and write the review including its criticisms. Then commercial terms are discussed, if they are discussed at all. An operator who offers a better rate after seeing a draft gets the same score they would have got before.

We publish criticism of operators we earn from. If you ever find a review on this site with no downsides listed, treat that as a failure of ours and tell us, because a review with no criticisms does not meet our own publishing standard.

If a listing is a paid placement rather than an earned position, it is labelled as one on the listing itself — in the toplist or table where you see it, not only in this policy. A disclosure you have to go looking for is not a disclosure.

Operators we do not have a relationship with #

Some operators we review pay us nothing, either because no arrangement exists or because we did not pursue one. Those reviews are written to the same rubric and appear in the same rankings. A commercial relationship is not a condition of being listed, and the absence of one is not a reason to score an operator down.

What we will not do #

  • Accept payment to change or soften a score.
  • Remove a criticism as a condition of a deal.
  • List an operator without a verifiable Gambling Commission licence, at any price.
  • Present a paid placement as an editorial ranking.
  • Target another brand’s name, or run content designed to intercept searches for a competitor.

Why we tell you this #

Because the alternative is a site that looks independent and is not, and because you cannot judge a recommendation without knowing who benefits from it. Knowing we are paid should make you read our scores more sceptically. The rubric on our how we review page exists so that scepticism has something concrete to check.
